Web Design and Web Development Trends for 2018

Web design and web development are the peanut butter and jelly of the internet. You can have either of the two, but having a good amount of both brings about totally delicious experience. On the internet, good web design is better with good web development and vice versa. Trends for both keep changing year after year, and it has been the job of website owners to make sure they keep up with the trend or risk missing out (i.e. lose website visitors).

If there’s anything that modern web design and web development trends are telling us, it is that 2018 will be the year where we can finally play. No need to play Dua Lipa’s New Rules while you’re planning out your website, because there’ll be no need for rules. Without further ado, here are some interesting web development and web design trend predictions for 2018.

Minimalism

The internet is adapting the “less is more” adage quite literally. Minimalism in design and in pages is one of the ways that companies want to show their efficiency and neatness in expressing their message.

In web design, maximizing white spaces has been an on-going trend for years now, evident in such trends such as allowing colors to pop and helping text get more attention. In web development, single-paged websites are predicted to be the new trend, effectively minimizing the need for visitors to jump from one page to another.

Bold and Vivid

Minimalism will be a thing this year, true, but if you want to swing the other way, that’s also perfectly fine. Bold colors, overlapping text, asymmetrical text, and free placing of text and photos are all part of a bold new take on web design this year.

As for web development, progressive web applications will be big. Remember how mobile apps are much easier on the eyes, easier to navigate, and just generally give a better user experience? That will no longer be limited to mobile devices this year as browsers are now supporting the creation of web applications that offer the same aesthetic and user-experience. Progressive web applications will reportedly allow users to access the website even while offline, allow faster loading speed, and even allow users to receive push notifications.

Unconventional and Moving

2018 is the year for less conventional material on the internet. In terms of web design, you can literally place text horizontally and vertically on the same page. You can basically do whatever you want as long as it’s readable. On the other hand, Motion UI will be the thing for web development. This brings new life to the web page, making it a little more sophisticated.

Trends are, of course, just constructs that you don’t necessarily have to follow. If you’ve had your website overhauled recently, then you can choose not to follow these trends. But if you’re still planning to create a website or are planning to improve your existing site, there are competent but cost-friendly web design and web development companies.

The best web development and web design companies are not necessarily the most expensive. You just have to find one with experts who can provide great output. You can choose which of these trends to follow, but above everything, remember to create a website that can show what you have to offer and can successfully deliver what your brand represents.
